Thank you to the Lafayette County community for spreading the word about Move On Up, Mississippi COVID Help and to all of our generous donors far and wide.  Your support allowed us to provide food care packages, including meals and food staples, along with gift certificates for groceries and other essentials to Lafayette County families during this time of uncertainty that has impacted many people’s ability to work or leave their homes due to the COVID-19 crisis.  Over the course of these eight weeks, we have been able to assist 312 families through an average of 1750 meals per week along with food essentials and gift certificates.  Thank you to our staff and volunteers for their time and energy in assembling and delivering food boxes, creativity in meal preparation, and taking the time to listen to the needs of our neighbors.  We, along with the rest of the world, are adjusting our protocols based on the fluctuation of our community’s needs.  Due to a decrease in applications, we are no longer reviewing applications, but our efforts have been redirected to Project Thrive and OXCM in an attempt to increase our reach with the remainder of our program’s resources as they specifically relate to COVID-19’s effects. Please contact us at COVIDhelp@moveonupms.org with any questions.
